Giving the gift of pecans is a long-standing holiday tradition at PSC. This tradition was started by our founder D.H. Haymon after a visit to the Bergeron Pecan shelling plant in New Roads, Louisiana. Each year, PSC ships thousands of boxes of pecans to employees and customers across the globe. Another holiday tradition is the sharing of recipes featuring those tasty pecans. In the early years, Mrs. Helen Haymon shared an assortment of recipes from a cookbook originally provided by a Bergeron Pecan representative, and since that time employees have submitted their own favorite recipes for inclusion in our annual winter newsletter.

Tips for storing shelled pecans:
• Shelled pecans will keep at least six months in a refrigerator.
• Shelled pecans will last over a year and up to two years when placed in a freezer
• Due to the high oil content of shelled pecans, they will not lose their taste when frozen.
• When storing pecans in a freezer, it is best to use a sealed plastic bag or container. Placing
the sealed bag inside of a recycled pickle jar helps maintain freshness when frozen.
