Be sure to provide us with up-to-date contact information, including your daytime phone numbers and an email address that you check on a regular basis. After submitting your application, check your email on a daily basis for interview requests and/or updates regarding the status of your application.
Always thoroughly complete the employment history section, instead of listing “see resume.” We request that you provide us with information on your last five jobs (if applicable), so please have the company names, addresses, supervisor names, and phone numbers readily available for these former employers. You will also need to provide information regarding the dates employed, starting and finishing pay, hours worked/week, job duties performed, awards received, and reasons for leaving. List your most recent employer/job first.
Answer all the required questions, or enter “n/a” if the question is not applicable to the job in which you are applying. We ask for information regarding your pay expectations, education, how you heard about our company, if you have a TWIC (see below) and/or Merchant Mariner Credential (which is required for certain positions).
Don’t have all the answers? Our online application system will allow you to save your application and login later to complete and submit it. You may also select an option to email a resume after submitting your application. Keep in mind that if you select this option, your application will not be processed and reviewed by a Recruiter until your resume has been received.
If you have previously applied and are submitting a new application for another position, be sure to review and update any information that has been saved in your application account.
At many of the sites where we work, our customers require our employees to have a Transportation Worker Identification Credential, also known as TWIC®. The TWIC is required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act for workers who need access to secure areas of the nation’s maritime facilities and vessels. TSA conducts a security threat assessment (background check) to determine a person’s eligibility and issues the credential. U.S. citizens and immigrants in certain immigration categories may apply for the credential.
You do not need a TWIC to apply or to be considered for employment with SGS PSC. However, because it can take 3-8 weeks or longer to obtain a TWIC, you may decide to apply for one now in case you are selected for employment at a TWIC-required site. NOTE: It is critical that you bring the required identity/immigration documentation to the in-person enrollment.
Please note that any costs associated with obtaining a TWIC are the applicant’s responsibility, not SGS PSC’s. Also, obtaining a TWIC is not a guarantee of employment with SGS PSC or with a customer that requires all site personnel to have a TWIC.
